Operators.Investors.Builders.

Our team has sat on both sides of the table - in investment committees, accelerators, and founding teams. We bring that perspective to every founder we work with.

Michael Macrides

Co-Founder

Investment professional with deep experience identifying and backing high-potential deep tech ventures at the intersection of breakthrough science and commercial opportunity. Michael has spent his career evaluating companies through the lens of institutional investment committees - understanding what separates fundable ventures from great technology that can't raise.

At Breakthrough Victoria, Michael served as Senior Director of Venture Capital, where he assessed and supported deep tech companies across the portfolio. He brings the investor committee perspective to every founder engagement - the same rigour, the same questions, and the same evidence standards that determine whether cheques get written.

Michael co-founded InflectionLab because he kept seeing the same pattern: world-class deep tech that couldn't raise, not because it wasn't investable, but because founders couldn't articulate why it was.

Noel Paul

Co-Founder

8+ years across venture capital, private equity, and investment banking with deep expertise in deal structuring, financial modelling, and investment analysis. Noel brings the analytical rigour of institutional investing to every founder engagement - the same standards applied to billion-dollar transactions, applied to your raise.

Noel's career spans Deutsche Bank's investment banking division, the Lighthouse Infrastructure Fund, Rothschild & Co's advisory practice, and Breakthrough Victoria's venture capital team. Across these roles, he has evaluated hundreds of investment opportunities, built complex financial models, and sat in the rooms where investment decisions are made.

At InflectionLab, Noel leads the analytical engine - investment thesis development, financial modelling, competitive intelligence, and the evidence architecture that turns founder conviction into investor confidence.

Cat Hoang Anh

Co-Founder

18+ years scaling deep tech ventures from laboratory research to global market presence. Cat has a rare combination of scientific literacy, commercial strategy, and operational execution - having led commercialisation at some of Australia's most respected deep tech and innovation institutions.

Her career spans CSIRO's global commercialisation practice, Breakthrough Victoria's strategy function, and multiple growth-stage ventures where she built go-to-market strategies, commercial partnerships, and operational systems for companies translating complex science into market-ready products.

Cat brings the commercial lens to InflectionLab's work - ensuring that investment theses are grounded not just in what the technology can do, but in how it reaches customers, generates revenue, and scales.

Why This Work Exists

We built InflectionLab around the pattern we kept seeing in investment committees: exceptional ventures losing conviction because the translation was missing.

Every member of the InflectionLab team has spent significant time in the rooms where investment decisions are made. We know how investment committees think. We know what questions get asked after the founder leaves. We know what gaps kill deals that should have gotten done - and we know because we've watched it happen.

We founded InflectionLab because we kept seeing the same pattern: genuinely world-class deep tech ventures that couldn't raise. Not because they weren't investable, but because they couldn't articulate why they were. The technology was real. The team was capable. But the translation was missing.

That's the gap we close. We act as the Investment Committee before founders face the real one. We pre-empt the hard questions, identify the red flags, build the evidence base, and prepare founders to walk into those rooms with substance, not just slides.

What We Value

01

Honesty over comfort

If the evidence doesn't support the thesis, we'll tell you. Our job is to prepare you for the hardest questions investors will ask - not to tell you what you want to hear.

02

Substance over narrative

A pitch deck gets a meeting. The data room gets the cheque. We focus on building the evidence that survives diligence, not just the story that gets applause.

03

Founders in the driver's seat

We don't raise capital for you. We prepare you to run your own raise - because investors back founders who demonstrate they can manage the process themselves.

04

Selectivity protects everyone

We work with a small number of founders at any time. If we take you on, it's because we believe in your venture. That selectivity protects our reputation with investors, and it protects you from wasting time on a raise you aren't ready for.
